3.Etorque on the Jeep Wrangler
Etorque is a mild hybrid system available on the Jeep Wrangler that provides torque assist during acceleration, regenerative braking power, extended fuel shut-off times, and start/stop capability. This system helps improve fuel economy without sacrificing the performance or capability of the Jeep Wrangler.

Etorque is a mild hybrid system that improves fuel economy and torque. It’s available on all Wrangler models except for the diesel-powered Wrangler.
The Etorque system uses a belt-drive motor/generator and a 48-volt battery pack to improve fuel economy and torque. The Etorque system provides electric torque assistance during launch and low-speed driving, allowing the engine to operate in four-cylinder mode more often. This increases fuel efficiency while also providing improved torque during launch and low-speed maneuvers, such as when climbing a steep hill. The Etorque system also recovers energy normally lost during braking and coasting to further improve fuel efficiency.
The 5.7L V8 engine with Etorque is standard on Wrangler Rubicon models and optional on Sahara models. When properly equipped, the Wrangler Rubicon with the 5.7L V8 engine and Etorque has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) and a maximum payload capacity of 680 kg (1,499 lb).
